We warmly welcome our favourite knitwear brand Inis Meain back for the new season.
Regular customers will be familiar with our fondness for the Irish hand knitting specialists who furnish us with 2 collections annually of luxurious seasonal knitwear which carry the dna of the rugged landscapes of their origin on each of their sleeves.
This season, we are heralding it’s return in our boldest colour palette to date…
The brand is named after the island off the coast of Galway, it’s home since it’s birth in 1975.
An inherent quality of the Inis Meain ethos is the imbuing of real meaning into it’s designs, the cable style above for instance is unique and relates to the practice of specific families having their own.
A similar one will have been made by a wife and worn by her husband whilst out fishing in the ocean, traditionally the main livelihood of the islanders.
It’s this heritage which gives the brand it’s ‘special ingredient’ and a big reason for our passion for it.
With this background knowledge the pieces really work in a practical sense but it is the lustrous handle and depth of colour in the flesh which wins us over. All made from a tactile combination of merino wool and cashmere, we’ve chosen colours which will stand out, managing to only have one navy (the cable shawl cardigan above) and one grey piece! Having said this the rest of the colours all work with our other collections as shown in this pre release snap of our new look book which will be with us very soon….
This classic shawl collar best displays another Inis Meain signature – combining various knits styles on one piece…
Whilst we’re excited by the modernity of some of our bolder shades like this royal blue donegal crew neck, each comes in other options.
One area we decided to bring on board last year was the accessories which go with the knitwear and this time we have more! Easy throw on pieces and great pops of much needed colour in the darker months which will be hard to beat on quality, just like the rest of the collection.
